Postdoctoral fellowships in nanoscience

  • Program name: NIST Nanoscale Science and Technology Postdoctoral and Visiting Senior Fellowship Program
  • Funding: $35M
  • Website: ireap.umd.edu/nist-fellows
  • Duration: 2014 - 2021
  • My involvement: 2014 - 2021

The NIST PML/UMD Fellows Program was a nanotechnology initiative that supported postdoctoral research. Fellows published and presented at professional conferences while receiving personalized professional development mentorship. Alumni went on to positions in academia, government labs, and industry.

As Scientific Coordinator (and co-PI starting 2019) I assisted executing all program activities: advertisement, recruitment, event planning, progress tracking, assessment, budgeting, and reporting.

Of my unique contributions:

  • Designed the program visual brand, along with recruitment flyers (samples below)
  • Designed and launched the program’s professional development component, which included a monthly workshop series and one-on-one career planning consultations
  • Tracked and supported postdoctoral fellow progress
  • Developed comprehensive technical reports for funding agency

Associated grants:

  • Nanoscale Science and Technology Postdoctoral and Student Researcher and Visiting Fellow Program - Cooperative Research Agreement between the UMD and the NIST CNST (co-PI)
